Comfort Food & Slack Tide Beer Dinner at Freddy J’s

We’re continuing our Dinner Club Series with a night dedicated to comfort food and craft beer, happening Wednesday, February 26th, at Freddy J’s Bar & Kitchen. This month, we’re embracing the last stretch of winter with warm, hearty dishes perfectly paired with local brews from Slack Tide Brewing Company, who will join us for the evening.

Each dish on this menu is crafted exclusively for this event. You won’t find these plates on our regular menu—they’re made just for this night, bringing you a one-night-only dining experience that pairs the best of scratch cooking with exceptional beer.

The Inspiration Behind the Series

The Dinner Club Series is more than just a meal. It’s a nod to the Super Secret Supper Club created by Chef Chris Groome at the former Brownies Squared—an experience that shaped our approach to food and hospitality. After hosting dinner club events, our last one was way back in October 2022; now, it’s last month. We’re reigniting that spark and bringing it back in full force.

February’s theme is comfort food, focusing on deep, rich flavors and satisfying pairings that make cold nights feel a little warmer.

Soup

Sweet Potato Soup with Maple Candied Bacon

Paired with Head Shake – Pineapple IPA

This creamy, velvety soup blends the natural sweetness of roasted sweet potatoes with crispy maple-candied bacon for a smoky contrast. Head Shake – Pineapple IPA brings a tropical brightness that cuts through the richness, while its smooth vanilla notes enhance the soup’s deep, roasted flavors.

Smoked Turkey Pot Pie in an Iron Skillet

Paired with Shoreline Wheat – Cranberry Wheat Beer

A classic comfort dish with a Freddy J’s twist, this pot pie features house-smoked turkey and hearty vegetables under a golden, buttery crust. The tart, fruity profile of Shoreline Wheat – Cranberry Wheat Beer brightens the dish and balances the smokiness, keeping every bite fresh and satisfying.

Southern Fried Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, Gravy & Braised Collard Greens

Paired with Avalon Amber – Red Ale

There’s no better way to embrace comfort food than with crispy, golden-brown Southern fried chicken served with buttery mashed potatoes, rich gravy, and slow-braised collard greens. The caramel malt backbone of Avalon Amber – Red Ale enhances the crunchy crust of the chicken, while a hint of hop bitterness keeps the meal from feeling too heavy.

Dessert

New Orleans Bananas Foster

Paired with Monkey Face – Stout

A classic, boozy dessert to round out the evening, featuring caramelized bananas served with candied walnuts over vanilla ice cream. The bold coffee and chocolate flavors in Monkey Face Stout bring out the deep caramelized sugars in the dish, making for a rich, satisfying finish.

A 20% gratuity and tax will be added to the final bill, and if purchasing tickets online, a credit card processing fee will also apply.
